New camera teasers.

So as a few of you already are aware, my new camera arrived last week on Wednesday : Canon 7D!  It pretty much felt like Christmas in March at my house as I ripped the box to shreds in a hasty attempt to get to my new camera as quickly as I could.  Yet, despite all of my hastiness to get to the contents, I came across a couple drawbacks : a) the battery doesn’t come charged (why not?  It’d be so sweet of Canon if they sent out their cameras with fully charged batteries so I don’t have to wait 4 hours for it to juice up), and b) the memory card I had wasn’t compatible.  So although I physically had the camera Wednesday, the real fun didn’t begin until Thursday after I ran out to buy a CF card.

Since then, my camera hasn’t left my side, and I’ve decided to start a few projects.  I have a new camera, why not dedicate myself to a couple of projects in between shoots to stay busy and showcase my photography?

Unfortunately, for those of you interested in seeing the above mentioned projects unveiled here today, I must disappoint you.  They’re still works in progress, but I have started them.  I’ll wait until they’re complete (or close to being complete) to show everyone, and hopefully by then I’ll be sharing my blog with more people than I currently am.

In any case, I have a few teaser photos to share with you all that ARE receiving my updates : photos I’ve taken with my new camera over the past week!  Photos from shoots, on my way to shoots, getting comfortable with the new gear, etc. these are a few of my favorite photos I’ve gathered over the past week that I’d like to share.  Hope you all enjoy!

(This is my favorite!)

I’m adding this photo as a bonus because it makes me laugh.

Kitties like to roll around.

Today I woke up and did something I often see my father doing; I grabbed a yogurt from the fridge, and proceeded to eat it while standing in front of the window in our kitchen that overlooks our front yard.  For my dad, I think it’s a matter of standing while eating (something he’s become accustomed to from having to eat quickly at work), and watching his hummingbird friends zip around and drink from the feeder.  In my case, I was observing my sister poke and prod our cat Ed (who is a SHE!) with the tip of her foot.  Naturally, the cat was annoyed and an epic battle of claw and shoe proceeded to ensue.

This is how I ended up with my camera, outside, having a mini-shoot of Ed a few minutes later.

I’ve always enjoyed watching Ed while she’s outside exploring the world.  She hunts leaves, prowls around in the day lilies, takes a nap in the shade underneath the cars in the garage, stares intently at birds, and rolls around on the cement.  I don’t know what it is that makes her enjoy rolling around on the dirty driveway SO MUCH, but she loves it like it’s catnip.

Here are a few of my favorites of Edward enjoying the outdoors.  Enjoy!

(I like this photo mainly because she looks like a happy old man.  n_n)

(I don’t think you can see it, but she has a beetle under her paws.)

A Day in the Park.

Hi!  To those of you I’m first sending this blog out to, WELCOME!  As you all know, I’m Dannee, and I love me some photography.  I’ve decided to start a blog in order to keep me shooting, even when I don’t necessarily have to, and I’d like to share with you all the photos that happen in between; I’m sure I’ll even have a few strictly word posts, for those of you who are interesting in the things I have to say (I can’t promise they’ll always be relevant to.. well, anything).

So to start this blog off, I’m going to post some photos from a recent photoshoot I had with Leah Butler and her two very adorable (very photogenic) children, Jesseka and Krystian Butler.  Not only are Jess and Krys cute and fun to photograph, but they have the biggest imaginations I’ve encountered in months.  We all spent the day at the park together playing, swinging, spinning, sliding, talking (or in my case, listening) about volcano bombs, and playing pirates.  They even convinced me to get on the merry go round.. and spun me around so fast that I started feeling sick.

In any case, I present to you, A Day in the Park :

These are my personal favorites from the shoot, hope you all enjoyed!
