From the Holidays.

Here are some photos from the holidays! Christmas and New Year’s to be exact. Unfortunately, with all the craziness that the holidays are known for, I didn’t end up taking an incredible amount of images.. I am happy with what I did get, though! Hope you guys like them too. :)

Everyone is a little sleepy at first on Christmas morning. ;)

San Francisco views. <3

Matt’s little sister Lindsay and her boyfriend Devon are very adorable together. :) Thank you again for letting us stay at your place for New Year’s and everything else you did for us, Lindsay! <3

A Big Bear Thanksgiving, 2011.

Hi again, everyone!  So I know it’s been a couple of months now since Thanksgiving quickly came and then passed again.  I’ve finally gotten around to posting a short but sweet blog post of another year of Felten-family-fun at the cabin in Big Bear!  This year introduced sledding to the mix, along with lots and lots of time to play pool.  It was definitely a good trip. :)

Beach House in Ventura 2011.

September 3, 2011 | 3 Comments

It’s been almost two months since my boyfriend Matt and I headed up to Ventura to join his family at a beach house they rented for the week of 4th of July.  Going through these photos brings me back to a vacation of no stress, all relaxation, a little bit of beer and margaritas, and a lot of fun.

We saw a lot of cool things right in the backyard of this beach house on a somewhat regular basis.  The front yard was what I imagine a tropical garden would look like.  The sun set right where we could see all the colors of the horizon blazing.  One evening enormous pelican even landed on the rocks in the backyard and almost got into a fight with the family dog Winston!

Winston would NOT stop digging in the sand almost the entire time we were there!  I think the texture freaked him out a little bit.

We tried to find grunion, but found the police trying to catch people shooting off fireworks instead.

Winston tired himself out so much at the end of the trip that we posed him with a tequila bottle and he didn’t even move from his spot.

Funny faces :)

Wine Weekend.

Guys!  I’m so excited to share the photos I took while up in wine country two weeks ago with you!  The scenery was amazing, the wine was delicious, and the company was excellent  :)

Matt, Albert and I arrived in Solvang on Saturday in the evening and took a trip to The Hitching Post for dinner.  Some of you may be familiar with the interior of that restaurant from seeing it in the movie Sideways.  It’s seriously one of the best dinners I’ve ever had – if you’re ever up in Solvang looking for some good eats, The Hitching Post is the answer (and although it is a tad on the spendy side, it’s definitely worth every penny)!

Sunday was by far my favorite day of the trip.  Some of you may remember when Matt took me up to Solvang for my birthday last year and I shot a few photos at Demetria Estate.  Naturally, we felt we needed to return to enjoy the awesome view from the estate’s patio of the grape vines growing all over the hills and enjoy their delicious wine.  We ended up staying for about 3 hours talking with the guys who work there and listening to their musician serenading the folks on the patio with lovely acoustic melodies.  Oh Demetria, I miss you already!

On our last day we drove a few hours north for a separate adventure which I will share with you in my next blog post  :)  For now, I hope you guys enjoy the photos from our wine-tasting extravaganza!

(Photo creds go to Albert on this one :) )

Grand Canyon trip 2011

February 17, 2011 | 2 Comments

A trip to the Grand Canyon is beginning to become a necessity for Matt, Albert and I who have gone at the beginning of the year for the past three years.  The year 2011 was no different, and we took off on a Friday afternoon towards that gigantic hole in the ground that never ceases to be amazing to behold, no matter how many times you see it.

A weekend filled with snow, elk, a few games of pool, boots, giant crows, and of course, the Grand Canyon.

Hope you all enjoy the photos from our trip (I certainly enjoyed taking them)!

Thanksgiving in Big Bear.

I know it’s a little late (about a month late, be specific), but now that all the holiday madness is over, I’ll finally be able to start updating my blog a little more with recent work!  That’s the plan anyway ;)

This year for Thanksgiving, I took a trip with Matt and his awesome family up to Big Bear to stay in a cabin they rented for the holiday.  Despite the fact that it was below twenty degrees during most of our stay, everyone seemed to have a wonderful time exploring the snowy woods around the cabin (it was also VERY enjoyable to thaw out by one of the two fireplaces that constantly had roaring fires going after an expedition).

We ate a ton, relaxed, played pool, and Matt even got his hair cut after 2 years, which, thanks to his cousin Erin turned out perfectly!

(The fake deer freaked Winston out a little bit.. )

(A rare photo caught of me)

New lens teaser.

SO!  As some of you may know, I recently added a new lens to my collection; a Canon L series lens!

The moment I was able to equip this new lens to my camera, I was off taking photos around the house of anything and everything that looked like it would make an interesting image.  Here is a selection of some of the first few photos I’ve taken with my new lens; I hope you like them!

Road Trip part 3 : Lake Tahoe.

October 28, 2010 | Post a Comment

Hey guys!

I’m excited to show off my final batch of photos from Jeannie’s and my mini-road trip; I finished them quick too!

Our last day on the road ended up taking us north from Yosemite to Lake Tahoe, which is one of the biggest and clearest lakes I’ve ever been to.  It also led us to a side of the lake less visited called Emerald Bay, which was surrounded by hundreds of trees in the middle of their fall transformation.  I’ve always been a huge fan of the leaves changing color for the new season, so I was basically in heaven with all of the colors that were going on around me.

Hope you all enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them ;)

Road Trip part 1 : Mono Lake

October 16, 2010 | Post a Comment

Hi again, all!

I have some photos to share with you all from a road trip I took with the extremely talented Jeannie Muritas (http://www.jeanniemutrais.com/ – go check her out!) following my time spent in San Francisco.

Jeannie was nice enough to drive all the way up from Orange County to San Francisco to pick me up to go on a three day road trip to.. well, we weren’t quite sure where exactly we were going at first.  I ended up mentioning Yosemite, since it was only 6 hours east, and as it turned out neither of us had ever been there, so that’s where we headed.

The first day of our trip took us to Mono Lake, possibly one of the oldest lakes in Northern America, and there I managed to get a number of photos to share with you all today.

San Francisco kittens.

Hello :)

So I have a short little post to share with you guys today.  A couple of weeks ago, I took my first plane ride (in 12 years) up to San Francisco to visit Matt’s little sister Lindsay at her new apartment on 19th Street.

Lucky for me, the flight was only an hour, and although going into the airport, my nerves were as good as shot, I quite enjoyed myself once we made it to our takeoff.  The feeling of flying is quite an amazing thing, and being one who’s been doing most of her traveling by car recently, it was a pretty exciting change; I definitely can’t wait to do it again!

Although we were there for 3 days, and attended a number of memorable events, I only used my camera for the first few hours after we arrived at Lindsay’s apartment.  Lindsay and her roommate Kadee had just adopted a pair of kittens, so of course I had to snap a number of photos of the adorable duo.  So for those of you prepared for a mega-kitten-adorableness-overload, here ya go!
