3.13.13 Kaitlyn’s Bachelorette Party.

April 29, 2013 | 1 Comment

Last month, I was hired to shoot Kaitlyn Johnson’s (now Mooney!) bachelorette party as a surprise to the bride-to-be by her maid of honor Amy. My friend Jeannie and I had already been hired previously to shoot Katie’s wedding, so when Amy requested I shoot the bachelorette party as well, I happily agreed. I’ve shot for Katie’s photography studio (The Rock Studio) in the past, and was thrilled to be able to photograph Katie on her own wedding day, as well as the festivities she was going to share with her closest lady friends on the day prior. She’s clearly a very talented photographer, and I was excited to be able to give her what she gives to her clients on a regular basis: beautiful memories of the happiest times in her life! :)

The girls all had a blast at the party, and Amy constantly surprised Katie with games to play throughout the evening. If you doubt the fun I say they all had, well, just take a look at the photos. I think they communicate the good times pretty accurately. ;)

Matteo is 6 weeks old!

March 23, 2013 | 1 Comment

A couple of weeks ago I was asked to photograph baby Matteo’s first portrait session. Of course I happily agreed to do so :)

This little guy was full of smiles, charm, and baby jabber right up until the last shot. His parents and uncle were all saying that he’s going to be the next Gerber Baby representative, and I really hope the photos I captured of him will help him get into that position ;) Without a doubt, he’s certainly cute enough!

The Year of 2012 pt 1: Weddings and people I’ve photographed.

January 12, 2013 | 4 Comments

As I guiltily let the weeks slip by without posting any of my new work during the last few months of 2012, I resolved (as cliché as it sounds) not only to start posting my work more frequently again, but to also pick up my camera every once in awhile just for fun. It’s easy to let things/life catch up with you and forget what you like to do, and sometimes why you even enjoyed it in the beginning. At the end of last year, I forgot almost entirely how much fun I have photographing nature and its sheer enormity, amiable strangers, friends making silly faces, lovers in their own universe together, animals playing, miscellaneous family trinkets, and well, pretty much everything.

It has been awhile since I’ve posted, and things may be a little different from here on out, but I think that’s a good thing. :) Today I would like to show you all of the people I’ve had the extreme opportunity to work with in the year 2012 (it’s gonna be a big post, so brace yourselves…). You’re all amazing, every single one of you (even the people whose photos may not make it into the post tonight; I probably miss you terribly [ESPECIALLY those of you I've met and haven't photographed yet]). You guys have kept me going, and give me the courage to continue. So thank you. Here’s to 2013 and all the opportunities this new year may offer us. <3

Olivia is 6 months old!

September 24, 2012 | 1 Comment

This blog post is long overdue, I know. Apologies. Things have been a bit on the busy side in Dannee-Land. :) I’ll talk less in this post and photo more.

Here are some color altered photos of the adorable baby Olivia when she was six months old (which was about six months ago…). I hope you all enjoy!

Joe and Jeannie 3.17.12

July 17, 2012 | 2 Comments

It only took me four months to get this wedding posted. But better late than never, right!? ;)

I knew Joe and Jeannie back when they used to work at the restaurant my parents manage, when their relationship was all shiny and new. Six, seven years later Jeannie emailed me asking if I wanted to photograph their wedding. I was thrilled!

Joe and Jeannie got married on St. Patrick’s day, in the middle of a torrential downpour. Luckily, the fire station next door let us use their garage for a couple of bridal party photos; Joe happens to be a fireman, and the guys next door were more than happy to help out on his wedding day. :)

Joe and Jeannie, I am so so happy for you both. Everyone always knew you two would be together forever, and I was so honored to be a part of your big day. Wishing you guys much love and happiness in your marriage! See ya around at EC! ;)

Again, huge thanks to Mr. Seth DeDoes for being an awesome second shooter, helping me out all day, and for catching this…

On our way to the reception, Seth got an AWESOME shot of the wiener-mobile! I might’ve started flipping out a bit in my seat… :)

Spring Training.

July 10, 2012 | Post a Comment

Today I will be sharing with you the photos I took while in Arizona with the Feltens (minus Lindsay :( ) at Spring Training. Personally, watching any sport on TV makes me want to go into another room and escape. Live games are a completely different story. It’s exciting to be there, and it’s hard to resist becoming a part of the crowd by cheering your favorite team on (I like to pick the underdogs and root them on loudly). Also, most stadiums have good beer. ;)

Grand Canyon Adventure Time.

June 24, 2012 | Post a Comment

It’s been awhile again. :( This post is ONLY about 5 months overdue…

BUT! I’m excited! I’ve been working on my photos from the Grand Canyon adventure we all took at the beginning of February for the past few days, and the photos turned out like a magical candy-land of natural beauty. Does that make sense at all? See for yourself, I suppose. ;)

The snowstorm approaches…

This was the first time I’ve ever been in a snowstorm. Soooo exciting! Then we had to run from it, haha.

Kitana’s Second Birthday.

May 8, 2012 | 1 Comment

Apparently, as far as blog posting goes, I fell off the face of the planet. :( I’ve been very behind on posting my recent work, because I’ve had so much recent work lined up on my to-do list for the past two months. Don’t get me wrong, I love it! So now that I’m (sorta) caught up with editing for the moment, I can try to catch up on a few of the blog posts I haven’t had time for lately. :)

I shot Kitana’s second birthday towards the beginning of the year. As with most two year old birthdays, there was a swarm of kids every which way you looked. I was drowning in cuteness! Between all the fun games they played, beating the piñata down, and eating fresh pizza out of a real wood-burning oven, I had more than enough to photograph.

And a big, giant THANK YOU shout out to the lovely and talented Erika Ramirez, who helped me out buckets throughout the day! :)

Detective Sgt. John Knott’s 75th birthday party!

March 27, 2012 | 5 Comments

Time for an overdue blog post! For the overdue-ness of this post, I do apologize, but I hope to make up for it over the next few weeks. :)

A couple of months ago, I had the opportunity to be a part of Detective Sergeant John Knott’s 75th birthday party. It was a whirlwind of memories, long-time friends, family, and coworkers coming together to celebrate. Everyone, especially John, clearly had a wonderful time seeing each other again. I hope as many people show up for my 50th birthday as showed up for John Knott’s 75th! ;)

One of John’s daughters retold the story of how John ended up accidentally handcuffed to a chair when she was a child.

Everyone got a chance to see their coworkers in the LAPD from 20 years ago.

The Lishes 2012!

February 27, 2012 | 2 Comments

Greetings, friends! So I have some photos of the Lishes at Irvine Regional Park to share with you all today. I had never been to this particular park before this shoot, so being able to wander around and explore the area was a ton of fun. Unfortunately, I almost got hit by a miniature train while doing so. Nevertheless, I made it out alive and went on to get a bunch of great photos of Kevin, Bridget, Jack and Conor. It’s always such a treat being able to work with my wonderful cousins and their adorable kids. :) Here are my favorites from the day.

I don’t know if you guys know this, but when peacocks squawk, they sound like a woman shouting “HELP!” very loudly. These guys roam the park freely, so when we first started hearing them screaming it was a little bit alarming..

On top of peacocks, there also happens to be a little zoo in the middle of the park, so we went in to visit the animals. Goats sorta creep me out, so I kept my distance from our rectangle-pupiled friends…except to take a photo or two.
