From the Holidays.

Here are some photos from the holidays! Christmas and New Year’s to be exact. Unfortunately, with all the craziness that the holidays are known for, I didn’t end up taking an incredible amount of images.. I am happy with what I did get, though! Hope you guys like them too. :)

Everyone is a little sleepy at first on Christmas morning. ;)

San Francisco views. <3

Thank you again for letting us stay at your place for New Year’s and everything else you did for us, Lindsay! <3

A Big Bear Thanksgiving, 2011.

January 23, 2012 | 1 Comment

Hi again, everyone!  So I know it’s been a couple of months now since Thanksgiving quickly came and then passed again.  I’ve finally gotten around to posting a short but sweet blog post of another year of Felten-family-fun at the cabin in Big Bear!  This year introduced sledding to the mix, along with lots and lots of time to play pool.  It was definitely a good trip. :)

A Birthday Vacation.

December 19, 2011 | 2 Comments

For my birthday this year, Matt and I took a quick weekend trip down to Coronado island.  We explored the boardwalk a bit, relaxed and toured the Stone Brewery.  It was awesome!  Commencing images now :)

The view from my grandparents’ condominium balcony.

Creepin’ on myself.

Stone Brewery tour.

I kept staring at this guy’s smiley face hat, so clearly I had to take a picture ;)

These are smelly things that you put into beer to make it taste good.

The Inn at Fawnskin.

My cousin Kevin and his AWESOME fiance Bridget (who’s lovely faces have been on my blog two times before this post!) got married up in Big Bear at the Inn at Fawnskin last month.  I don’t often get to attend weddings as a guest, so I took complete advantage of being able to capture my cousin’s wedding from a guest’s perspective.

The Inn at Fawnskin was a tiny little cottage in the midst of hundreds of trees stretching up towards the sky.  We were able to enjoy the greenery, blue skies, dappled light, and perfect temperature on the day of Kevin and Bridget’s wedding.  I even got to see Jeannie hard at work too!  Which was strange since I’m normally shooting weddings with her, instead of visiting with other guests and drinking wine.

A fun, intimate little wedding with my little family, welcoming another member officially into the clan; as far as I’m concerned, Bridget has been a part of our family since the first time she came to dinner at my parent’s house :)  congrats again, you guys!

My mom got a few shots of Matt and I, which I’m thrilled with :)

Grandma on the left, Mutti (our mom is called Mutti) on the right

I freaking ADORE baby Conor.  And his big brother Jack :)  cutest little guys ever!

Not sure if you guys know my dad, Fabs (our mom is called Mutti, our dad is Fabs.  Family weirdness, but our parents love us anyway).

And now that you guys all know what most of my family members look like, you can shout at them if you happen to recognize them walking down the street ;)  Tell them they looked supah hot on my blog!

Beach House in Ventura 2011.

September 3, 2011 | 3 Comments

It’s been almost two months since my boyfriend Matt and I headed up to Ventura to join his family at a beach house they rented for the week of 4th of July.  Going through these photos brings me back to a vacation of no stress, all relaxation, a little bit of beer and margaritas, and a lot of fun.

We saw a lot of cool things right in the backyard of this beach house on a somewhat regular basis.  The front yard was what I imagine a tropical garden would look like.  The sun set right where we could see all the colors of the horizon blazing.  One evening enormous pelican even landed on the rocks in the backyard and almost got into a fight with the family dog Winston!

Winston would NOT stop digging in the sand almost the entire time we were there!  I think the texture freaked him out a little bit.

We tried to find grunion, but found the police trying to catch people shooting off fireworks instead.

Winston tired himself out so much at the end of the trip that we posed him with a tequila bottle and he didn’t even move from his spot.

Funny faces :)

Wine Weekend.

Guys!  I’m so excited to share the photos I took while up in wine country two weeks ago with you!  The scenery was amazing, the wine was delicious, and the company was excellent  :)

Matt, Albert and I arrived in Solvang on Saturday in the evening and took a trip to The Hitching Post for dinner.  Some of you may be familiar with the interior of that restaurant from seeing it in the movie Sideways.  It’s seriously one of the best dinners I’ve ever had – if you’re ever up in Solvang looking for some good eats, The Hitching Post is the answer (and although it is a tad on the spendy side, it’s definitely worth every penny)!

Sunday was by far my favorite day of the trip.  Some of you may remember when Matt took me up to Solvang for my birthday last year and I shot a few photos at Demetria Estate.  Naturally, we felt we needed to return to enjoy the awesome view from the estate’s patio of the grape vines growing all over the hills and enjoy their delicious wine.  We ended up staying for about 3 hours talking with the guys who work there and listening to their musician serenading the folks on the patio with lovely acoustic melodies.  Oh Demetria, I miss you already!

On our last day we drove a few hours north for a separate adventure which I will share with you in my next blog post  :)  For now, I hope you guys enjoy the photos from our wine-tasting extravaganza!

(Photo creds go to Albert on this one :) )

Grand Canyon trip 2011

February 17, 2011 | 2 Comments

A trip to the Grand Canyon is beginning to become a necessity for Matt, Albert and I who have gone at the beginning of the year for the past three years.  The year 2011 was no different, and we took off on a Friday afternoon towards that gigantic hole in the ground that never ceases to be amazing to behold, no matter how many times you see it.

A weekend filled with snow, elk, a few games of pool, boots, giant crows, and of course, the Grand Canyon.

Hope you all enjoy the photos from our trip (I certainly enjoyed taking them)!

Mark in Big Bear and the Sole Purpose.

February 13, 2011 | 2 Comments

As some of you may remember, during the Thanksgiving holiday I went up to the mountains of Big Bear with Matt and his family and spent the weekend in a cabin in the snow.  While we were up there, surrounded by snow, trees, and tons of nature-y beauty, we realized that it was an ideal spot for a little shoot.  So Mark (Matt’s dad) broke out his guitar and banjo, and we had a quick portrait session.

Mark also asked me recently to take some photos for his band, Sole Purpose.  I haven’t shot many band portraits before, so I figured it’d be a great opportunity to practice and perhaps pick up a few tricks for next time.

So here are the photos from both Mark’s portrait shoot in Big Bear, as well as Sole Purpose.  Hope you all enjoy :)

Thanksgiving in Big Bear.

December 29, 2010 | Post a Comment

I know it’s a little late (about a month late, be specific), but now that all the holiday madness is over, I’ll finally be able to start updating my blog a little more with recent work!  That’s the plan anyway ;)

This year for Thanksgiving, I took a trip with Matt and his awesome family up to Big Bear to stay in a cabin they rented for the holiday.  Despite the fact that it was below twenty degrees during most of our stay, everyone seemed to have a wonderful time exploring the snowy woods around the cabin (it was also VERY enjoyable to thaw out by one of the two fireplaces that constantly had roaring fires going after an expedition).

We ate a ton, relaxed, played pool, and Matt even got his hair cut after 2 years, which, thanks to his cousin Erin turned out perfectly!

(The fake deer freaked Winston out a little bit.. )

(A rare photo caught of me)

Sara and Adam 10.23.10

Finally!

I’ve FINALLY finished putting together the photos I’ve wanted to share with you all from Sara and Adam’s wedding just NOW!  Between working two jobs, and trying to keep up with my photography lately, it’s definitely easy to get backed up and for that I apologize.

Sara and Adam were married on October 23rd, 2010 in Lake Arrowhead.  I was second shooter to the talented Kaitlyn Johnson (http://www.therockstudioblog.com/ <- go check out her work!) and had an absolute blast!  Gorgeous scenery, awesome and friendly guests, below zero temperatures, we handled that wedding with anything it had to throw at us ;)

Also, in honor of my first wedding blog post in quite some time, I’ve extended my selection of photos I’m going to show this post – hope you all like them!
