The Year of 2012 Pt 2: The places I saw.

February 12, 2013 | Post a Comment

Guess who’s back again!? Oh yeah, this lady is on a roll. Been on a roll in the field of photography thus far this year as well, WHICH ONLY MEANS MORE BLOG POSTS FOR YOU ALL TO FEAST YOUR EYEBALLS UPON SOON (hopefully)! ;)

So, to preface this post, I feel inclined to ask: Are you someone who enjoys looking at places you might not have visited yet? Do you like to look at pretty things? Do you like to go outside? If you said yes to all three of those questions, then first and foremost, let me congratulate you on being an awesome individual. We could be friends, undoubtedly. Second, you’ll very much enjoy the second half of my Year of 2012 blog post, as it highlights all of the places I had the opportunity to travel to last year. :) I went to a lot of different places, and met a lot of really, really fantastic people.

Anyways, now that I’ve rambled a little bit, I want to show you the things that I’ve seen. Brace yourselves, a) it’s going to be a big post again, and b) these places are beautiful. Contact your local travel agent immediately. Or just go outside. ;)

The Year of 2012 pt 1: Weddings and people I’ve photographed.

January 12, 2013 | 4 Comments

As I guiltily let the weeks slip by without posting any of my new work during the last few months of 2012, I resolved (as cliché as it sounds) not only to start posting my work more frequently again, but to also pick up my camera every once in awhile just for fun. It’s easy to let things/life catch up with you and forget what you like to do, and sometimes why you even enjoyed it in the beginning. At the end of last year, I forgot almost entirely how much fun I have photographing nature and its sheer enormity, amiable strangers, friends making silly faces, lovers in their own universe together, animals playing, miscellaneous family trinkets, and well, pretty much everything.

It has been awhile since I’ve posted, and things may be a little different from here on out, but I think that’s a good thing. :) Today I would like to show you all of the people I’ve had the extreme opportunity to work with in the year 2012 (it’s gonna be a big post, so brace yourselves…). You’re all amazing, every single one of you (even the people whose photos may not make it into the post tonight; I probably miss you terribly [ESPECIALLY those of you I've met and haven't photographed yet]). You guys have kept me going, and give me the courage to continue. So thank you. Here’s to 2013 and all the opportunities this new year may offer us. <3

Ok, cut to the photos now, Lady McTalksALot. 2012 Weddings and people I’ve photographed:

Spring Training.

July 10, 2012 | Post a Comment

Today I will be sharing with you the photos I took while in Arizona with the Feltens (minus Lindsay :( ) at Spring Training. Personally, watching any sport on TV makes me want to go into another room and escape. Live games are a completely different story. It’s exciting to be there, and it’s hard to resist becoming a part of the crowd by cheering your favorite team on (I like to pick the underdogs and root them on loudly). Also, most stadiums have good beer. ;)

Chasing the Sunset.

June 26, 2012 | Post a Comment

So here’s a short, quick, beachy post from when Seth and I visited Crystal Cove to capture the sunset about a million days ago. I figure the photos are appropriate with the hottest days of summer approaching us all slowly but surely. Also, many of you may be familiar with my obsession with sunsets and the sky, so this post may be for me just a little bit as well. ;)

Now, who wants to go have a bonfire at the beach with me? :)

Grand Canyon Adventure Time.

June 24, 2012 | Post a Comment

It’s been awhile again. :( This post is ONLY about 5 months overdue…

BUT! I’m excited! I’ve been working on my photos from the Grand Canyon adventure we all took at the beginning of February for the past few days, and the photos turned out like a magical candy-land of natural beauty. Does that make sense at all? See for yourself, I suppose. ;)

The snowstorm approaches…

This was the first time I’ve ever been in a snowstorm. Soooo exciting! Then we had to run from it, haha.

From the Holidays.

January 31, 2012 | 1 Comment

Here are some photos from the holidays! Christmas and New Year’s to be exact. Unfortunately, with all the craziness that the holidays are known for, I didn’t end up taking an incredible amount of images.. I am happy with what I did get, though! Hope you guys like them too. :)

Everyone is a little sleepy at first on Christmas morning. ;)

San Francisco views. <3

Thank you again for letting us stay at your place for New Year’s and everything else you did for us, Lindsay! <3

A Big Bear Thanksgiving, 2011.

January 23, 2012 | 1 Comment

Hi again, everyone!  So I know it’s been a couple of months now since Thanksgiving quickly came and then passed again.  I’ve finally gotten around to posting a short but sweet blog post of another year of Felten-family-fun at the cabin in Big Bear!  This year introduced sledding to the mix, along with lots and lots of time to play pool.  It was definitely a good trip. :)

A Birthday Vacation.

December 19, 2011 | 2 Comments

For my birthday this year, Matt and I took a quick weekend trip down to Coronado island.  We explored the boardwalk a bit, relaxed and toured the Stone Brewery.  It was awesome!  Commencing images now :)

The view from my grandparents’ condominium balcony.

Creepin’ on myself.

Stone Brewery tour.

I kept staring at this guy’s smiley face hat, so clearly I had to take a picture ;)

These are smelly things that you put into beer to make it taste good.

The Inn at Fawnskin.

September 6, 2011 | 1 Comment

My cousin Kevin and his AWESOME fiance Bridget (who’s lovely faces have been on my blog two times before this post!) got married up in Big Bear at the Inn at Fawnskin last month.  I don’t often get to attend weddings as a guest, so I took complete advantage of being able to capture my cousin’s wedding from a guest’s perspective.

The Inn at Fawnskin was a tiny little cottage in the midst of hundreds of trees stretching up towards the sky.  We were able to enjoy the greenery, blue skies, dappled light, and perfect temperature on the day of Kevin and Bridget’s wedding.  I even got to see Jeannie hard at work too!  Which was strange since I’m normally shooting weddings with her, instead of visiting with other guests and drinking wine.

A fun, intimate little wedding with my little family, welcoming another member officially into the clan; as far as I’m concerned, Bridget has been a part of our family since the first time she came to dinner at my parent’s house :)  congrats again, you guys!

My mom got a few shots of Matt and I, which I’m thrilled with :)

Grandma on the left, Mutti (our mom is called Mutti) on the right

I freaking ADORE baby Conor.  And his big brother Jack :)  cutest little guys ever!

Not sure if you guys know my dad, Fabs (our mom is called Mutti, our dad is Fabs.  Family weirdness, but our parents love us anyway).

And now that you guys all know what most of my family members look like, you can shout at them if you happen to recognize them walking down the street ;)  Tell them they looked supah hot on my blog!

Beach House in Ventura 2011.

September 3, 2011 | 3 Comments

It’s been almost two months since my boyfriend Matt and I headed up to Ventura to join his family at a beach house they rented for the week of 4th of July.  Going through these photos brings me back to a vacation of no stress, all relaxation, a little bit of beer and margaritas, and a lot of fun.

We saw a lot of cool things right in the backyard of this beach house on a somewhat regular basis.  The front yard was what I imagine a tropical garden would look like.  The sun set right where we could see all the colors of the horizon blazing.  One evening enormous pelican even landed on the rocks in the backyard and almost got into a fight with the family dog Winston!

Winston would NOT stop digging in the sand almost the entire time we were there!  I think the texture freaked him out a little bit.

We tried to find grunion, but found the police trying to catch people shooting off fireworks instead.

Winston tired himself out so much at the end of the trip that we posed him with a tequila bottle and he didn’t even move from his spot.

Funny faces :)
